A writer, originally from New Zealand, Anna Welch is fascinated by the ways that travel narratives can be used to tell deeper stories about landscapes and the creatures that populate them. She enjoys the peculiar friendships of human curiosity that seem to accompany those travelling by less conventional modes of transportation (like long-distance cyclists with heavily loaded bicycles). She is the recipient of the 2023 Waterston Desert Writing Prize and has been published in Wilderness magazine and in True Travel Tales by Fineline Press. She is currently writing her first book.
